Education Requirements for PC Support Technicians
For a PC Technician, a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
A computer systems technology degree or an associate’s degree in electronics engineering can prove to be very valuable.
Students will gain a deep understanding of electronics and computing through the associate degree programs.
Candidates taking these courses may be able to apply the theory learned in class to a real-life situation.
Free IT training is offered by the Center for Young People
The program is free and only open to unemployed and unskilled youth
The BELIEVERS Care Society (BCS) Youth Development Centre invites unemployed, unskilled youth in the South to apply for a skills training opportunity in information technology (IT).
Through the development project, these youth will be provided with skills that will make them employable, along with basic life skills, information, and assistance that can help them find work.
Youth can enroll in an accredited 12-month course (PC Technician – level 4) with a SAQA ID of 78964 (FET: Technical Support – level 4) at the center. The course is being funded by the Department of Social Development.
Today, information technology is indispensable in every sphere of professional life, as well as a crucial component of sustainable economic operations. As expressed by its stakeholders, this qualification reflects the workplace-based needs of the information technology industry.
The input has been used to ensure that the qualification provides the learner with the possibility of employment within the IT industry. With this qualification, individuals have an understanding of some basic computer industry concepts and can work in areas of IT with little technical complexity.
During the training, participants are taken to the Youth Development Centre in Turffontein. On Mondays through Thursdays, classes are held from 9 am to 1 pm, and on Wednesdays, classes are held from 9 am to 2 pm.
Students interested in this course are encouraged to apply now. To be eligible, you must be between 17 and 35 years old, a resident of the South, hold a matric certificate or equivalent, and be willing to study for the duration of the program.
There is no charge for this service. Young people who are unemployed and unskilled will only be accepted.
